TURA: The Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) has raised concern over the mushrooming of illegal RCC buildings constructed by non-tribals in most of the rural market places belonging to the GHADC in Garo Hills.

The construction of the alleged illegal buildings was unearthed following an inspection of one such building at Garobadha GHADC weekly market and the committee has blamed the GHADC authority for allowing the same to go on unabated.

“The majority of the RCC buildings in the market are owned by non-tribal traders. When we asked around on the matter, the non-tribal traders confidently replied that these plots in the said market are being allotted for constructions by the Chief Executive Member of the GHADC himself,” the committee claimed.

The GSMC in their letter to the GHADC CEM has demanded the immediate demolition of all illegal constructions from entire Garo Hills within seven days failing which, it warned of taking its own course of action.
