SHILLONG: Opposition leader and chief of Congress Legislature party Mukul Sangma on Thursday said that a hung mandate is what he foresees in the KHADC and JHADC election results.
Talking to media persons, Sangma said:” From my inputs, we expect a hung verdict.”
He, however, added that in all probability, Congress will touch the half way mark of securing 15 out of the 29 seats in both houses.
Sangma said the party will honour the verdict of the people who have exercised their right to franchise during the polls on Wednesday. The candidates of both the KHADC and JHADC faced fiery competition with heavy campaigning from different political parties joining the fray.
The counting of votes will take place on Saturday.
