Ri-Bhoi police takes steps to sensitize people on GNLA

 NONGPOH: In bid to sensitize people in the rural areas on potential threats from the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA), the Ri Bhoi police on Wednesday organized a meeting with all the headmen and community leaders at Pilangkata Police Outpost.

Altogether 91 village headmen and community leaders from 34 villages under Pilangkata Police Outpost attended the meeting.

Addressing the gathering, Ri Bhoi Deputy Superintendent of Police S Marsing urged them to immediately report to the nearest police outpost if they spot any suspected elements in their villages.

Marsing stressed on constitution of Village Defence Party (VDP) in all the villages as to be able to assist the police in maintenance of law and order situation. The meeting decided to constitute VDPs in all the villages, conduct proper verification of tenants before letting them reside in their village.
