SHILLONG: The State Government would meet soon after the District Council elections to take a call on the recent ruling of the High Court on the Them Metor (Sweepers Colony) issue.
The Court has asked both parties to approach the civil court to seek redressal on this long pending issue
Talking to media persons here on Friday, Urban Affairs Minister, Hamlet Dohling said that government would soon meet to deliberate on this issue and decide on the way forward to proceed ahead with this matter.
According to him, the meeting of the High Level Committee (HLC) would soon be held after the Council polls.
“The HLC would deliberate in details on the ruling given by the High Court,” he said.
Earlier, the High Court of Meghalaya had entrusted the Civil Court to solve the dispute over Harijan Colony.
During the hearing of the pending case recently, Justice SR Sen had said the Civil Court would be the right forum since the matter is civil in nature.
It may be mentioned that the High Level Committee which was constituted by the State Government last year following the violence in Motphran has also examined various records and documents of the colony.
