An official statement said the East Jaintia Hills deputy commissioner recalled his association with the Navy and the Army and wished them best for the next duty assigned to them in the interest of the country. The statement said the Indian Army is leaving due to call of duty from the higher authorities. An official source said the Navy and Army personnel are leaving probably due to the prevailing situation in the country as India and Pakistan are at loggerheads.
The official added that the NDRF and the SDRF are still on the site of the operation and ready to assist other agencies for all purposes.
