New York: Rock band Rolling Stones are not touring this year to mark their 50th anniversary, says rocker Keith Richards.

The four-memember-band instead is looking forward to the release of a documentary, which covers their iconic musical history since 1962. Richards, 68, said 2013 is the new goal for the celebration, Rolling Stone magazine reported.

“Basically, we’re just not ready. Instead, 2013 is the new goal. I have a feeling that’s more realistic,” Richards said. However, insiders say that one reason for the delay is Richards’ decline in the performance after he suffered a head injury on vacation in Fiji in April 2006, midway through the Bigger Bang tour.

“They don’t want to do a full tour. They don’t want to travel, and there are concerns about Keith’s health,” a source said. On their website, the band announced the upcoming release of “a groundbreaking and eye-opening documentary,” directed by Brett Morgen, covering the history of the band from its founding in London in 1962 to today.

“It will be music never heard before, and I’ve conducted 50-plus hours of interviews so far. By the time we’re done, they will be the most extensive group interviews they’ve ever done,” said Morgen, who made 2002’s The Kid Stays in the Picture. Whether former bassist Bill Wyman would join them on the road in 2013 is still not resolved. (PTI)
