Dorbar Kur urges Guv not to approve KHADC bills

SHILLONG: The Steering Committee of Dorbar Kur (SCDK) has urged Governor Tathagata Roy to not give his assent to the two bills passed by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) as they need to be improved upon.
The bill are the Clan Bill and the Khasi Lineage Bill. Outgoing KHADC chief executive member HS Shylla has been pushing for the governor’s assent.
Chairman of SCDK Khrawbuit Ryntathiang told reporters that in the recent meeting which was attended by 40 clans have called for putting the bills in the public domain.
The governor told the delegation that the issue is complicated and suggestions will have to be taken from the State Government through the District Council Affairs Department before he gives his approval.
