SHILLONG: The Opposition Congress in Meghalaya is confident that the National People’s Party (NPP) would not sustain itself for long and it would be known in a short time.

The statement came from Congress leader, Zenith Sangma even as the NPP is looking to challenge national parties like the Congress and BJP in the upcoming Parliamentary elections as far as the North East is concerned.

It may be mentioned that the NPP is planning to contest all the 25 Lok Sabha seats in the region  in the next Lok Sabha elections

Attacking the NPP, Sangma said that the NPP was leading the government for the first time and they were excited but they wouldn’t sustain for long and everyone would know it very soon.

He said, “Chief Minister Conrad Sangma claims that the NPP is ruling in many states but the fact of the matter is NPP is just a part of ruling coalition in those states.”

Targeting NPP National President and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Zenith said, “Conrad feels that he has become undisputed overnight, ‘Mahapurush’ but it won’t be for long.”

The NPP is now exploring opportunities at different constituencies and states of the region to contest the elections.

The NPP state president, WR Kharlukhi had also expressed confidence that they were here to give the national parties a fight to remember and that the Congress would be wiped out at least in Meghalaya.
