Sensitisation prog on disaster management

 SHILLONG: A one-day village level sensitization programme on Disaster Management organised by the Office of the Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations, East Khasi Hills District was organized at Umrynjah on Saturday.

Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations B. Kharsamai, while addressing the gathering enlightened the important of organising Disaster Management programme in different localities so that people become aware about the prevention, mitigation and preparedness to face any challenge during disaster.

Retired Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations and State Resource Person, MATI for Disaster Managemen P. Marbaniang, in his  power point presentation highlighted the need to avail different training programmes organised by the Government from time to time so that the citizens are aware how to face the challenge during any disaster.

He also stressed the importance to form a Village Disaster Management Committee in order to have a local coordination and responsibility to respond immediately to minimize any casualty that may arise during disaster.

The sensitization programme on Disaster Management was attended by many villagers.
