Accident
On Friday one Bolero pick-up (ML-08C-5824) met with an accident at Buga Dongram in South Garo Hills. One occupant identified as Kritson Ch Sangma died on the spot, while another occupant identified as Chekam Ch Momin succumbed to his injuries at PHC Sibbari. Eighteen other occupants sustained injuries and were taken to PHC Sibbari and CH Tura.
Assault
Christina Mukhim lodged a complaint stating that on March 13 around 8 am, while she was on her way to Nepalbora village in Ri Bhoi to attend a meeting organised by HANM, three women identified as Martina Tariang, Junita Tariang and Anjali Rupsi, stopped her and asked about the functions of HANM Women’s Wing while Anjali Rupsi insulted her. Meanwhile, the complainant received a phone call from the headman of Umlangpur village, in which he accused her of insulting his brother-in-law. The headman also threatened to take her to court. Later, while the complainant was in the meeting, family members of Anjali Rupsi and Samuwell Jahrin assaulted her.
Fraud
Donboklang Jyrwa and Krispin Marweiñ lodged a complaint stating that Pyndaplang Nongrum bought one Maruti Swift D’zire and one Maruti Gypsy using their names with a promise to pay monthly installments to the complainants. However, the accused has failed to keep his word.
Mridul Kalita of NEPA, Umsaw in Ri Bhoi lodged a complaint stating that on March 8, he found that two fraudulent ATM withdrawals had been done from his account. A total of Rs 30,000 had been withdrawn.
Theft
Ahalat Marak lodged a complaint stating that on March 11, unknown miscreants stole one pumping machine belonging to Manda Self Help Group from a Strawberry Farm at Rongrang Manda Do’po village in East Garo Hills.
Threat
A woman lodged a complaint stating that on Friday around 8:45 am, while she was on her way to the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM) on a two wheeler Balram Choudhury stopped her at Khanapara Bus Stand in Ri Bhoi and threatened to post her pictures on social media. The accused also threatened to kill her and her parents if she refused to go with him.
