Guwahati: The outlawed United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), anti-talks faction, on Monday stated alleged that its commander in chief ‘major general’ Paresh Barua did not have any account in the social networking site Facebook and the so called account in the site in the name of the ULFA leader had been opened and operated at the behest of Indian Intelligence as has been found out by it through its investigation.

In an e-mail to the media, the outfit stated that the ‘fake Facebook’ account in the name of the ULFA leader was being run by an Bangalore-based Assamese with a surname Das who identifies himself as a retired employee of Indian Air Force and claims in the net to have close rapport with the ULFA ‘s military wing chief Paresh Barua.

The ULFA alleged that Das had been working on the behest of Indian Intelligence to indentify the well-wishers of the ULFA through the Facebook and warned people against keeping in touch with Bikash Kumar Das in matters related to the ULFA.

The ULFA alleged that the netizen Das had claimed close rapport with the ULFA chief and promised to help people in the ranks of ULFA while in reality neither the ULFA leader nor its cadres knew anything about this person.

“It is significant that this Das could flaunt his close rapport with the ULFA leader Paresh Barua at a time when security forces are arresting so many people in Assam on charges of keeping contact with the ULFA,” the ULFA stated.

The outfit also stated that no active member of the outfit could open any account in social networking site like the Facebook as its constitution imposed.
