Assam, Mizoram hold ‘peace’ talks

GUWAHATI: The district administrations of South Assam’s Hailakandi district and Kolasib and Mamit from Mizoram held a high-level meeting to maintain peace and harmony along the inter-state border.
Hailakandi Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli accompanied by ADC ,EL Faihriem, Circle Officer, Katlicherra, James Aind and ASP Barun Purkayastha held a meeting with district administrations of Kolasib and Mamit from Mizoram along with their team joined by their respective SPs and discussed issues of peace and harmony at Gharmura on Assam side of the border on Wednesday.
Jalli said the district administration would take steps to ensure peace and tranquility along the inter-state border. “Meeting was held in a conducive atmosphere with prime focus on maintaining peace and tranquility on the inter-state border. Both sides agreed to work towards developing confidence between them,” he said.
The district administrations of Kolasib and Mamit assured the Assam counterpart that peace would be maintained along the inter-state border at any cost.
