SHILLONG: The BJP candidate for Shillong Lok Sabha seat has slammed the political parties for criticising the saffron party saying these parties cannot divorce BJP or else they will face many financial problems.

Speaking to media persons after filing the nominations, he said that during elections every party criticised the BJP just for show but after the results, the same parties shout the slogan of “BJP bhai bhai”.

“They cannot divorce BJP and they still work with the BJP. They know that if BJP is not there, there will be lot of financial problems for them,” he said.

It may be mentioned that the BJP despite being a coalition partner in the MDA has often faced ire of different political parties like NPP and UDP who have been going hammer and tongs against BJP after the recent fiasco on Citizenship Amendment Bill.

When asked about UDP pulling out from NEDA, he said that pulling out from the NEDA was their call whereas BJP is a national party

Earlier, a confident looking Shullai claimed that the people of the country would once again reposed their faith on Prime Minister Narendra Modi even as he added that it was useless for the people to waste their votes by casting the same for other parties .

He maintained that once the BJP Government was formed at the centre, he along with different party leaders would take up  issues of the state which have been pending since decades.

On being asked about the promise of the BJP to lift ban on coal mining if it  comes back to power, he said that  unfortunately, the people of the state in the last Assembly election gave only two seats to BJP and hence they were working   as a coalition partner and so they could not lift the ban on coal mining on their own.

When asked how would he convince the minorities to vote for a saffron BJP, he said that they (minorities) were wise enough and would  for BJP.

Cabinet Minister, AL Hek, party state president, Shibun Lyngdoh and other senior leaders of the party were also present during the filing of nominations of Shullai here on Monday.
