NONGPOH: In an unfortunate incident, a youth lost his life after he drowned at Lailad river in Ri Bhoi district on March 25. The victim was identified as Farming Lyngdoh, hailing from Mawdiangum, Nongpoh.
It was informed that the victim along with his friend went for fishing to the river, but he was reported missing the same day, in which search and rescue operations were conducted to find out his whereabouts. After three days of continuous search, his body was recovered from the river on Wednesday. It was later taken for post mortem at Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
