General Observers interact with representatives of political parties at Tura

TURA:  The General Observers for 2-Tura Parliamentary Constituency Kailash Chand Gupta, IAS and 48-Selsella (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC), Ahola Those, IAS met the representatives of political parties at Circuit House, Tura ahead of the ensuing Lok Sabha Parliamentary Elections and Bye-election to 48-Selsella (ST) legislative Assembly Constituency.

During the meeting, Kailash Chand Gupta said that it is necessary to abide by the rules as per the guidelines of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during election process while Ahola Those sought the cooperation and support of all stakeholders in order to ensure smooth, free and fair election and informed that if any issue arises with regard to violation of MCC, etc can contact the concerned General Observers or Returning Officers in the district.

Further, the Returning Officer to 2-Tura Parliamentary Constituency Ram Singh briefed about the contents of the Model Code of Conduct and other Do’s and Don’ts to the representatives of the political parties and requests the candidates and political parties to follow the guidelines from the announcement of election till the completion of the process of election. “This is necessary since the Commission has directed that this information should be brought to the knowledge of all candidates and political parties”, he added.

Meanwhile, the Returning Officer for the Bye-Election to 48-Selsella (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency, M T Sangma informed about the simultaneous election for Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly Constituency at Selsella and added that two Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) will be used and there will be two voting compartments at the polling booth. Moreover, two kinds of voting slips will be issued to the voters in which the white voting slip will be for Lok Sabha and pink voting slip will be for Legislative Assembly Constituency, she said.

Since this is the first time Selsella is going for simultaneous election, numerous awareness programmes to sensitize the voters of the constituency is going on and urged the concerned voters to vote for both the polls on the polling day, she added. Besides, the Returning Officer also informed about cVigil App – the voters helpline including the helpline number 1950, webcasting, all women polling station, model polling station, polling booth to facilitate Persons with Disabilities among others for the smooth conduct on the poll day.
