SHILLONG: Protesting violation of Supreme Court order by coal-laden trucks, the Wageasi Surrounding Area Development Committee (WSADC) has called a 48-hour road blockade from March 26 followed by an indefinite road blockade from April 3 on NH 62.

The WSADC submitted a memorandum to East Garo Hills (EGH) district administration in this context. The WSADC alleged that despite repeated reminders to the district administration regarding violation of the apex court Order, the latter failed to do anything in this regard.

Meanwhile, in another development, four Jaintia Hills-based public organizations have demanded up-gradation of Nartiang to a Civil Subdivision. The four organizations – Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People, Hynniewtrep National People Federation, Jaintia Students Union and Nartiang Civil Subdivision Development Committee – are organizing a public meeting on March 31 at Iaw Namdong, Jaintia Hills at 11am in this regard.
