SHILLONG: In view of the current situation prevailing in Shella, the Shella Peace Movement was formed by its residents during a meeting held in the city on Saturday.
It may be mentioned that Shella has been in the limelight following the dispute between two groups regarding the procedure of electing the office bearers of the Shella Dorbar.
The two groups also approached the court with hopes of solving the matter.
The meeting was led by Sainkupar D Fancon and discussions were held on bringing about a mutual understanding.
The residents also expressed their concern regarding the presence of two warring groups who are disputing on the manner of administration in Shella which has brought about disrepute to the entire village as a whole.
In a press statement issued here, the Shella Peace Movement said, “We will try to bring about understanding and cooperation in Shella because we cannot be mute spectators to the constant dispute time and again.”
