SHILLONG: AICC president Rahul Gandhi will not visit the state to campaign for the party candidates in the April 11 Lok Sabha elections.
Rahul was scheduled to address a meeting of leaders and workers of the state unit of the party on April 4.
Party sources here said that MLAs and the two MP candidates are working in tandem for the upcoming elections.
“Time is very short and campaigning schedules have been drawn up and MLAs are campaigning on a day-to-day basis,” a source said.
The Congress has put up Vincent H Pala for the Shillong seat and former chief minister Mukul Sangma for Tura.
On the other hand, the MDA allies will hold a rally on Tuesday at Polo which will be addressed by NPP national president and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma. UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh is the MDA’s common candidate for the Shillong seat.
