CSWO seeks info on land acquired for New Shillong

SHILLONG: The CSWO has filed an Right to Information (RTI) seeking different facts about the land acquired by the Government for New Shillong Township at Mawdiangdiang and the surrounding areas.

In an RTI application filed with the Public Information Officer of the Revenue department, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing sought the total area of land acquired as on date for New Shillong Township.

CSWO also sought the complete list of Departments and Organizations (Central and State), Societies, NGO’s, individuals etc who have been allotted land by Government in New Shillong Township besides how much has been paid to the land owners for the land acquired for New Shillong Township.

It may be mentioned that the CAG in its report had termed the allotment of land to bureaucrats in New Shillong town as illegal.
