TURA: With still no positive developments or intimation on the demands of the student fraternity of Tura Polytechnic from the Government, the Tura Polytechnic Student’s Union along with several NGO’s of Garo Hills has resolved to stage a two day Hunger Strike in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office premises on March 29 and 30.

Informing this, Assistant General Secretary of the Union, Flixstar Mante B Sangma said that the Union had given the government a seven day dead line expiring on March 28 to look into the grievances of the student community of Tura Polytechnic and at least give some sign of cognizance of the gravity of the situation.

It may be noted that the Tura Polytechnic Student’s Union along with various Civil Societies and NGO’s had earlier from Marh 19 to 21 carried out intense agitations at the institution and in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office demanding the government to look into their grievances.

After all said and done we hoped that the government would show some signs of reciprocation, said Sangma and informed that the Union would go on with the proposed hunger strike to show their resentment over the slip shoddy attitude of the government.
