Rameswaram(TN): Four Tamil Nadu fishermen were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy for allegedly fishing near Neduntheevu in their territorial waters early Tuesday and taken to the island nation, a fishermen association leader said. Around 3,000 fishermen from this island town had put out to sea Monday and were catching fish off Neduntheevu early this morning when Sri Lankan naval personnel came to the spot and damaged the fishing nets of 50 boats, took away GPS equipment before chasing away all the fishermen, Rameswaram Fishermen Association President, P Sesuraja alleged. On April 5, 18 fishermen from Kilinjal Medu village near Karaikal were arrested when they were fishing near Paruthithurai in the island nation. (PTI)
