JOWAI: Three members of the banned militant outfit — the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) surrendered at Dawki PS on Sunday evening.
The surrendered cadres were ‘sergeant’ Wankerlang Kharnaior (26) alias Balam of Lawbah village, Mawsynram, Thakur Pohlong (25) alias Lurshai of Nongbareh village, Jaintia hills and ‘lance corporal’ Thimos Jana (26) alias Khlur of Ladsharai village, Ri Bhoi.
The trio joined the outfit in 2002 and completed their training in 2003.
Speaking to media persons here, the surrendered cadres informed that they have left the training camp at Chittagong hill track, Bangladesh after serving the outfit for more than 10 years in the training camp. Kharnaior was one of the ‘instructors’ in the Chittagong hill track camp.
After crossing Bangladesh border, the three were first apprehended by the BSF and later handed over them to Police.
Kharnaior informed that they decided to leave the training camp with a motive to surrender before the police but before reaching any police station they were caught by BSF guarding the international border.
