TURA: The All Meghalaya Minority Students Union (AMMSU) along with the Kisan Society has submitted a memorandum to Home Minister James Sangma which was earlier also given to CM Conrad K Sangma.
In the memo, the groups sought better job opportunities for the educated youths of the region with a suggestion that out of 10 vacant seats, one should be given to general candidates. “The authorities are not giving jobs to the minority community. There is no one from this community holding the posts of MCS, DO etc which is created by the MPSC,” the groups stated.
Stating that the plain belt region is deprived of proper medical infrastructure, the groups urged of setting up of more PHCs and CHCs.
The groups while claiming that many posts are lying vacant in sericulture, weaving, agriculture, health  and education departments, they urged the government to absorb the trained candidates from the region in the posts. Besides, the groups also sought the creation of a new Subdivision at Bhaitbari and the setting up of BSc college or university in the region.
