SHILLONG: With the conclusion of elections in Meghalaya, the Election Commission has allowed the release of 75 schemes.
An official with the Finance Department said on Friday that the release of the schemes was withheld till the completion of the Lok Sabha polls in Meghalaya due to the model code of conduct.
After the budget was passed, the state government was not in a position release funds for the schemes due to the mode code of conduct for a month.
The official said though elections are being held in other parts of the country, the government can carry on with the implementation of state schemes as the execution of central schemes may have some limitations.
