13 counting centres on May 23

SHILLONG: There will be 13 centres for counting of votes in the state on May 23, CEO Frederick Kharkongor said on Friday.
Thirteen platoons of the Central Armed Police Forces are manning the strongrooms where EVMs are kept.
The security personnel will man the strongrooms round the clock and the EVMs will be under CCTV surveillance.
Counting will be held in the headquarters of all eleven districts besides Sohra and Mairang.
Informing that the flying squads and static surveillance team seized over Rs 71 lakh during the election process, Kharkongor said out of the total amount, Rs 42 lakh is kept with the Income Tax Department and the money seized from people during the election will be returned to them after they produce necessary documents for the same.
The Election Department was given Rs 65 crore for conducting the election and the police budget for the exercise is Rs 22 crore.
