SHILLONG: The body of a 45-year-old temporary employee of Central Excise/ Customs Guest House identified as Samu Baruah, who was reported missing, was recovered from under the lift of the office here on Saturday.
Police said that there was no clue as of now, but investigations were under way.
The body was first spotted by the sweeper, who was called after the security guard complained of foul odour emanating out of the lift. The body was detected after the lift was sent up and the ground checked.
Samu Baruah was working as a temporary cook for over 15 years and since he did not return home on April 7 and his mobile phone was also switched off, the family members after a lot of asking around filed a missing report at Pasteur Beat House Polo, his brother Narayan Baruah said.
The police have sent the body for post -mortem.
