SHILLONG: An emergent general body meeting of the Shillong Bar Association was held on the premises of the association at 2 pm on April 12 to observe and commemorate the centenary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre on April 13, 1919 at Amritsar, Punjab.
Various members who addressed the meeting remembered the incident of rampant firing by a full-fledged contingent of the Armed Forces of the British Empire under the command of General Reginald Dyer. A minute’s silence was observed as a mark of respect to all the martyrs and the victims of the Jallianwala Bagh.
