SHILLONG: The state government would empanel all the private hospitals in the city under MHIS-IV, which has been implemented in the state in convergence with the central scheme, AB-PMJAY. The total coverage under the scheme will be Rs 5 lakh per head.
Speaking to media persons after reviewing the enrollment of the scheme here on Wednesday, Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek said all private hospitals in Shillong are expected to sign MOUs with the state government for providing services to the beneficiaries under the scheme.
The private hospitals, which have signed the MOU with the government for implementing the MHIS-IV till date are Nazareth Hospital, Holy Cross Tura, Holy Cross Mairang and Holy Cross Umsaw.
When asked about dues to be paid to the private hospitals, the minister said the department has cleared all the dues.
“In fact, we have also managed to clear Rs 42 lakh for the services provided under the MHIS-IV,” Hek said.
On the status of enrollment under Phase IV, he said as many as 3,28,449 beneficiaries were verified out of whom 3,27,916 were approved.
“The enrollment drive is yet to pick up as desired due to the shortage of the enrolment machines. We had only 130 enrollment machines at the spot until yesterday,” he said.
He admitted that enrollment was not carried out in many localities due to the shortage of kits.
Out of the 300 enrollment kits which have been acquired, East Garo Hills has 17, West Garo Hills 39, South West Garo Hills 17, North Garo Hills 16, South Garo Hills 16, East Jaintia Hills 16, West Jaintia Hills 32, South West Khasi Hills 15, Ri-Bhoi 26, West Khasi Hills 25 and East Khasi Hills 80.
