Police to summon Shullai over misconduct charge

SHILLONG: Police will issue notice to BJP candidate Sanbor Shullai to appear before the investigation officer in connection with alleged violation of model code of conduct.
Police are currently investigating the incident where an FIR was filed against the BJP candidate for misconduct inside the polling station during the Lok Sabha polls on April 11.
Sources said the investigation officer is probing the matter and a notice will be served to Shullai to appear before the officer for recording his statement.
Sources also said police will do whatever needs to be done.
A presiding officer on the instruction of the returning officer of Shillong parliamentary constituency had filed the FIR against the BJP candidate following reports that he had misbehaved with the presiding officer and delivered a ‘speech’ inside the polling booth 17- Kench’s Trace- A.
The FIR was filed under Section 132 of the Representation of the People Act for misconduct.
The incident was reported after Shullai spoke to media persons inside the polling station.
Shullai has been booked for cognizable but bailable offence and if found guilty, he can be sentenced to imprisonment for three months or fine or both.
