Musical instrument maker gets support

SHILLONG: The North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur has recognised an artist and maker of traditional musical instruments, Rojet Buhphang by extending support to him through the “Guru Shishya Parampara Scheme”.
Buhphang along with Komih Khongjirem are artists and master craftsmen who were instrumental in setting up the Sieng Riti Institute in 2002 at Wahkhen, East Khasi Hills.
The scheme will allow Buhphang to give training in traditional music to budding artists for one year.
The village of Wahkhen is known for producing traditional musical items which are used across the Khasi and Jaintia Hills.
