SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) School Association, Central Body said State Project Director SEMAM(SSA) Ambrose Ch Marak has responded to the legal notice served to him for the delay in payment of arrear for eight months.
The director in his reply said that SSA is a centrally sponsored scheme fully dependent on grant-in-aid from the Central Government and the State Government. “There is no denial to the fact that the arrear salary of trained and untrained lower primary and upper primary teachers of SSA run schools from July 1, 2016 to February 28, 2017 could not be paid due to non-receipt of required funds from the government for payment of the arrear salary to SSA teachers” , Marak added.
On the other hand , the office of the State Project Director SEMAM (SSA) has constantly pursued with the Central and the State Government for release of additional funds so as to make payment but in vain, the reply said.
He also said there is no negligence on the part of the office rather the office is showing outmost interest to make the payment as early as possible.
