De-worming Day observed across state

Shillong/Jowai/Nongpoh/Baghmara: National De-worming Day was observed across the state on Thursday with various programmes held to spread awarenes on the importance of de-worming.
National De-worming Day was inaugurated at Khliehriat Presbyterian High Secondary School in East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat.
The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills, FM Dopth, District Medical & Health Officer, J Lakiang, Medical and Health Officer I/C Khliehriat CHC, NP Suchiang, medical staff including the vice principal, teachers and  students of the school .
While addressing the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills said de-worming medicine will be given through the platform of schools, Anganwadi centres and public health centres.
He also requested parents to educate their children so that they can become great assets of the country.
Jowai
The office of the District Medical and Health Officer, West Jaintia Hills observed National De-worming Day during a programme held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Jowai.
De-worming tablets were also provided to the students.
DM Blah, Deputy Director, DHS, Shillong, D Khongiong, Joint Director of School Education and Literacy, LM Darnei, District Mission Coordinator, SSA-SEMAM, Jowai, teachers, doctors and staff from the health department were also present on the occasion.
Ri Bhoi
The office of the District Medical & Health Officer, Ri Bhoi District under the banner of the National Health Mission observed National De-worming Day during a programme held at the King of Kings Higher Secondary School in Mawkyrdep.
The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, Rosetta Mary Kurbah in the presence of M Mawrie, District Medical & Health Officer, Ri Bhoi, B Pohsngap, AYUSH physician, Kyrdem PHC, NM Sangma, District Tuberculosis officer and H Dkhar, principal of the school.
South Garo Hills
National Deworming Day was also observed in South Garo Hills during a programme held in Baghmara.
The programme was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, District Health Society chairman, HB Marak.
