TURA: Citizens of Resubelpara and Mendipathar on Wednesday, organised a one-day solidarity prayer movement for the victims of the Sri Lanka terror attacks which witnessed a gathering of hundreds of people at Mendipathar Railway Station.
With hundreds of candles lit, prayers were offered for the departed souls and for the speedy recovery of the injured. The solemn event was jointly organised by the various churches of North Garo Hills.
“We do not seek any revenge but forgiveness to those enemies so that they become like one among us one day. As jesus said to father on the cross, ‘father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing,” echoed from the general participants during the Prayer Movement.
The Peace Club Violinists of Resubelpara who took part in the solemn event presented a special musical number while church elders and youth leaders made appeals for peace.
“Our heartfelt condolences to those bereaved family members who lost their loved ones to the terror attacks in Sri Lanka. May their departed souls rest in eternal Peace. May God console the aching hearts of all the bereaved. May God heal those injured ones those who are under treatment,” said Ripseng Marak who was also one of the organisers of the event.
