District-level athletic meet concludes in Ampati

Ampati: The two-day district-level inter-school athletic meet 2019 organised by the District Sports Office concluded at the Ampati Mini Stadium on Thursday. Around 800 boys and girls from 16 schools across the district participated in the event. South west Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ramkumar S attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest and spoke words of encouragement and motivation to the participants. The selected athletes will represent the district at the state-level meet to be held in Shillong in May. In the boys U-18 category, Mellim Higher Secondary School and Boldamgre Secondary School were adjudged the winners and runners-up. In the girls U-18 category the winners’ trophy and runners-up went to Emmanuel English School and Mothers’ Union Sec School, Ampati respectively. Rangsakona Higher Secondary School emerged winners in the boys U-16 category followed by Nirupama Memorial Secondary School. Nirupama Memorial Secondary School, Garobadha, bagged the yop position in the girls U-16 category followed by Highway Academy. In the boys U-14 category, Murchapani RMSA School emerged overall champions followed by Boldamgre Def UP School while Birin-Nuchong Secondary School, Ampati, won the winners trophy in the girls U-14 category followed by Soudakian English School.
