SHILLONG: The Shella unit of Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has called for appointment of one more doctor in the Shella PHC (Primary Health Centre) which currently has only one and who is hardly available compounding the problems of the people.
The HYC inspected the health centre recently after receiving complaints that the doctor is not always available.
However, the doctor, S Nongshlong, told the HYC that he does not stay in the quarter provided to him as there is not adequate water and it is congested.
President of HYC Shella Area unit, Aibok Swett said only one doctor is not enough and favoured the appointment of another. On the other hand, the organisation urged the MLA of Shella constituency and Assembly Speaker , Donkupar Roy, to intervene in the matter.
