SHILLONG: A meeting convened by the Syiem of Hima Mylliem on Friday had to be dismissed after residents of Raid Sadew Laitjem agitated against it.
The meeting was called to discuss removal of Raid Sadew Laitjem.
Speaking to reporters, Syiem, Ainam Manik Syiem said he called a meeting of the eleven persons from Raid Sadew Laitjem who were against the decision of the Hima Mylliem to remove Raid Sadew Laitjem on February 11. He claimed that the agitated residents entered the office and that the eleven persons who were called for a meeting refused to sign in the register of the office.
Asked why he removed Raid Sadew Laitjem, he said there is no such Raid Sadew Laitjem in the history of Hima Mylliem except Raid Sadew.
Apart from the eleven-person delegation, the premises of the office of Hima Mylliem were packed with the residents of Raid Sadew Laitjem.
A member of the delegation from Raid Sadew Laitjem, Lionel Nongkhlaw, said the Syiem allowed only the 11 persons to sit for a meeting while he asked the others to leave which agitated the residents.
The Syiem asked the delegation to come again when they are calm and composed.
