Turnover of MSEs rises by 54 pc in NE

GUWAHATI: Business turnover of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in the Northeast has increased by 54 per cent.

According to statistics released by the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), the turnover of MSEs in the region has touched Rs 171 crore in 2018-19 financial year from Rs 111 crore in the previous fiscal.

“The turnover of MSEs facilitated by NSIC has seen a jump of 54 per cent in the eight Northeastern states,” P. Udayakumar, director (planning and marketing), NSIC, who is on a two-day visit to Assam, said.

NSIC in Northeast has been pursuing various technical, promotional and commercial activities for promotion, development and growth of entrepreneurship and MSMEs through its array of services and activities since the last couple of decades.

Udayakumar highlighted the benefits being extended through training at incubation centres.

“In the North-eastern states, NSIC is supporting and assisting the MSEs through credit support, marketing support and skill development training to the unemployed youths through these centres,” he said.

Besides, NSIC has trained unemployed youths in the region in the last three years. A total of 4732 youths have been trained in the last three years at the incubation centres.

NSIC is an ISO 9001 certified government of India enterprise, established in 1955. The aim of NSIC is to fulfill its mission of promotion, aiding and fostering the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises in the country.
