SHILLONG: Social activist Banshai Marbaniang has demanded the removal of Pine Mount School principal Aiom Ksiar Diengdoh for allegedly flouting the state education rules.
Speaking to reporters, Marbaniang alleged that the principal abused him when he enquired about the ongoing session of class XI when the class X results were yet to be declared.
In a letter to Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, Marbaniang said he restrained himself despite being infuriated and hurt.
He pointed out that SSLC, 2019 results have not been declared by the MBoSE. He said he was utterly shocked when he was confronted by Diengdoh, who said, “Who the hell are you to inquire about such matters? We have our own rules and regulations.”
He expressed concerns about the behavior of such officials holding responsible positions in the society especially in a matters relating to the Education department. Asserting that it is highly unbecoming of her stature, Marbaniang demanded the removal of Diengdoh from the post of principal for flouting the Meghalaya School Education Act and the education policy. The Education Minister said he would look into the matter even as
Marbaniang is adamant that Diengdoh be removed from the post of principal.
Marbaniang said that Pine Mount School should have been a school for the underprivileged, but many students were backed by bureaucrats or MLAs/MDCs.
