Bomb scare in city over two unclaimed bags

SHILLONG: Two abandoned bags at Oxford near Bishnupur created bomb scare among residents and passers-by on Tuesday evening prompting the bomb squad of the Meghalaya police to swing into action.
A resident called up the police on Tuesday evening informing that there were two unclaimed bags along the road near former MLA Sayeedullah Nongrum’s house.
By the time the bomb squad and the K-9 team reached the spot, people had gathered and there was panic. Police checked all the cars passing by the locality.
The confusion and chaos continued for some time before the bomb squad found that the bags contained women’s clothes.
The bags were deposited in Kench’s Trace Beat House.
