Assam ex-minister’s son held over assault

Guwahati: The son of a former Assam minister, Nekibur Jamal, has been arrested by Assam Police on allegations of assaulting a woman employee of his hotel, run under OYO rooms.
Police said, the case had come to light on Tuesday evening after the victim had approached the police, though the purported incident happened last weekend.
Jamal was produced in a local court, which remanded him in 14 days judicial custody. Jamal is the son a former Congress minister of Assam and owns a hotel in Hatigaon area of Guwahati, which has been leased to OYO rooms.
He is facing accusation of physically assaulting a woman employee of the hotel, with CCTV footage showing him dragging the woman by her hair and kicking her repeatedly. (UNI)
