SHILLONG: An attestation parade for 425 recruits, including 84 Mahila recruits of Meghalaya Police was carried out at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Dimapur on Thursday.
The parade was reviewed by the Deputy Inspector General, AR Mawthoh, in the presence of the Commanding Officer of Special Force – 10, JFK Marak and other dignitaries from Assam Rifles and Meghalaya Police.
Replying to a query, Mawthoh said that Meghalaya Police’s decision to train their recruits at Assam Rifles Training Centre and School was taken because Assam Rifles is the oldest paramilitary force in the country which has been recognized as a premier training institute after being awarded the Union Home Minister’s Trophy for ‘Best Training Institute’ by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Being classified as a centre of excellence for training in Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare, it also provides training in counter insurgency and jungle warfare besides training for bomb disposal and improvised explosive for all central armed police forces.
Mawthoh expressed his satisfaction on the standards achieved by his recruits and said that the association between Meghalaya Police and Assam Rifles will always be strong and symbiotic.
He further thanked the Director General of Assam Rifles, Lieutenant General Sukhdeep Sangwan, for facilitating training to the recruits and said that this will enable them to function as an efficient and responsible force of the state.
