AMPATI: The Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills has prohibited any activity which can lead to the destruction of catchment areas in the district including the felling of trees and killing of wildlife.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner, Ramkumar S, stated that the prohibitory order was necessitated due to wanton destruction of flora and fauna by individuals and groups which would evidently result in the destruction of catchment areas if unchecked.
