SHILLONG: The Joint Action Committee, Mawlai (JACM) on Thursday organised a black flag protest rally to demand from the state government to take action against the people who were allegedly involved in the murder of home guard Dismarlin Lyngdoh Lyngkhoi at FCI godown at Khanapara on April 24.
Thousands of people, including students took part in the rally which started from from Mawlai Nongkwar and concluded at Mawlai Mawroh playground. The rally was led by the three daughters and the son of late Home Guard who carried placards which wrote: “Who will feed us from now onwards as we have lost our Dad” and “Who will feed us, who will send us back to school after our Dad is no more”.
The people who took part shouted slogans to demand justice for late Dismarlin.
The JACM has demanded that the Saikia Company from Assam should hand over the four truck drivers who had murdered the late Dismarlin to the Meghalaya police within a month.
Police had identified the four truck drivers as Sadhan Jamatia, Naba Baruah, Suresh Boro and Sona Ram Boro, who allegedly murdered late Home Guard.
They also demanded that the FCI should immediately cancel the work order given to Saikia Company if they do not hand over the four truck drivers.
Talking to reporters, JACM chairman, Donbok Kharlyngdoh informed that they had recently met the General Manager of FCI, Dev Anand and demanded to suspend the Depot Manager who failed to take measures after he was informed about the assault of late Dismarlin by the four truck drivers.
The children of late Dismarlin, who spoke during black flag protest rally, said that the death of their father is a great loss as he was the lone bread earner.
