Commitment day held at Sacred Heart College

SHILLONG: Young Students Movements (YSM) and Young Catholic Students (YCS) had a Commitment Day at Sacred Heart Theological College (SHTC), Mawlai on Sunday. Nearly 1000 students from 21 schools of the city took part in the event.
Umroi MLA and former Joined Mission Director of Rural Employment Society George Bankyntiew Lyngdoh was the chief guest and Dr Lynda Lyngdoh, MBBS was the guest of honour.
Other important dignitaries were Sr. Bernadette Kroopi, YSM and YCS Coordinator, North East India and Bro. Cheriatt Jose, Former Coordinator, YSM and YCS Shillong Region.
While addressing the gathering Dr Lyngdoh said, “You have taken this very important decision of your life, to be part of this movement that will help promote your moral values, your spiritual values and more especially which is very important your social values.”
He further said that the community needs good people to become leaders. Our state requires, our future requires IAS officers, IPS officers and social workers.
Besides oath-taking ceremony, it was packed with other events like Holy Mass, felicitation, songs and dances from various schools.
St. Margret performed prayer dance, Holy Child Higher Secondary School gave a group song and Don Bosco School, Smit entertained the participants with traditional Khasi dance.
