SHILLONG: Additional Chief Secretary P W Ingty on Wednesday said responding to crisis should be done in the most effective manner.
He was speaking as the Chief Guest at a workshop on crisis management organised by Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with British High Commissioner, Kolkata.
“In the last few months, we have been conducting training and organising mock drills with the focus being on earthquake. But the state has also been hit by different other kinds of crises such as landslides or the mining disaster in Ksan for which we are mostly unprepared,” he said.
According to him, there should be a close working relationship between the stakeholders and the responders to ensure an effective response in every area.
Vice Consul, Eastern and North East India, British High Commissioner, Kolkata, Sanjibita McDonald Tariang Sen said the Foreign and Commonwealth Office aims to provide and prepare for a crisis response which is very effective in any kinds of crisis anywhere in the world.
“You can never predict a crisis or be totally prepared for it but at least we can prepare for it to some extent,” she said.
