Govt appoints sixth advisor

SHILLONG: The NPP-led MDA government has yet again appointed an advisor.
There are already five advisors appointed by the government.
According to a notification, D N Pathak, former principal, Controller of Accounts, Union Government, has been appointed as the consultant cum advisor to the Meghalaya government to provide technical assistance and monitoring of ‘new large projects taken up by the government’ with financial support from the Centre.
The notification said Pathak will draw his remuneration at the last pay drawn minus pension.
Earlier in October last year, the government had appointed former chief minister DD Lapang as the chief advisor to the Meghalaya government.
North Tura NPP legislator Thomas Sangma was the first one to be appointed as the advisor to the chief minister followed by Allantry Franklin Dkhar of UDP and Arlene Sangma of NPP, who were appointed with the same designation of political advisor and secretary to the chief minister. The perks and allowances are under Category A.
In June last year, the government had appointed retired senior bureaucrat from Delhi, CV Ananda Bose as advisor to the Meghalaya government.
The appointment of Bose as advisor (policy coordination and governance) under the Planning Department is for one year.
Bose never operated from Shillong but a room was allotted to him in the Main Secretariat.
