In a statement issued here, the defence PRO said the delay in laying of the pipelines is not due to refusal of permission by the Defence authorities.
It said that the transfer or delineation of Defence land takes place only with approval by the Ministry of Defence, as stipulated by the government in terms of guidelines issued from time to time.
Public Health Engineering Department and Defence authorities are working in tandem within the framework of rules and the project is on schedule, it said.
It may be mentioned that the water supply scheme has been a long pending project which seeks to augment water supply in Pynthorumkhrah, Nongmynsong and Madanriting areas.
