NONGSTOIN: Internal squabbles in the Congress for the party ticket to the newly-constituted 34-Mawshynrut (ST) Assembly Constituency in West Khasi Hills district are heating up with three persons reportedly in the fray for the battle of the 13th Meghalaya Assembly election-2013.

The three Congress ticket aspirants are Srally Rashir, ex MDC of Mawshynrut, Methodius Dkhar and social activist from the area Pelcy Snaitang.

It was also confirmed that the sitting Congress MLA from 36-Mawthengkut Assembly Constituency (Pre delimitation constituency), Francis Pondit Sangma, will be vacating the seat as he is reportedly planning to seek his electoral fortune from the 51-Rongram Assembly Constituency in West Garo Hills during the 2013 Assembly polls.

The Congress is expected to face stiff opposition from one Witting Mawsor of the HSPDP. Mawsor is a lecturer at Nongstoin College and his family has considerable interests in the coal business. He is also a noted social worker of the area.

Mawsor enjoys the confidence of large sections of people in the area taking into account his family background and his experience as a social worker.

Large sections of voters have expressed their disenchantment at the bitter experience during the last two consecutive assembly terms from the sitting congress MLA. People want to see a change and better rapport with their representative.
