Rangdop SC emerge winner in U-16 football tournament

Nongpoh: The Under 16 Open Invitation Football Tournament organised by the Ri Bhoi District Sports Association (RBDSA) was on Saturday concluded with Rangdop Sports Club emerging as the winner of the tournament defeating Umdihar Sports Club by 3-2 goals in a tie-breaker.
The thrilling final match between Rangdop SC and Umdihar SC ended in a draw at full time following which, the referee decided to conduct a tie-breaker to decide the winners.
The prize distribution ceremony of the tournament was attended by the local legislator of Nongpoh, Meralborn Syiem as the Chief Guest and Mawhati MDC, Charles Marngar as Guest of Honour in presence of RBDSA leaders and others.
Delivering a short speech during the prize distribution ceremony, Meralborn lauded the initiatives taken by the RBDSA in organising this kind of event to bring out the talents among the youth of the District.
Syiem also informed that Nongpoh, being the District headquarter should have been equipped with all modern facilities for sportsperson lik modern infrastructure, artificial turf and athletic track along with stadium, and as a representative of the people, he had sent a proposal in this regard, and the government has accepted in principle.
