SHILLONG: Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers’ Association (KJDSTA) and Garo Hills Deficit School Teachers’ and Employees Association (GHDSTEA) have reminded the Director of School Education and Literacy (DSEL) about pending issues of deficit school teachers in the state.
The Director assured the associations on Friday to take up release of the second installment of revised pay with the government.
On death-cum-retirement gratuity, the Director told them that the process is under way as letters of financial implications have been already sent to all schools through their respective District School Education Offices (DSEOs).
Regarding the ban on senior graduate teachers with BEd qualification to occupy the post of principal and vice principal (without post graduate degree), the Director told the association members that he cannot decide at his level and that it is up to the government.
On the monthly and regular salary, the Director said that the first quarter of pay usually gets delayed, but efforts will be made to release the second quarter as early as possible provided the schools submit the proposals and UC to their DSEO/SDSEO.
The issue of medical re-imbursement of deficit teachers was also raised.
Nevertheless, both associations wished to meet the chief minister within a week or two to apprise him of the problems of deficit teachers.
